RECENT BREAKTHROUGHS

New graphene now enables the solar cell to double its efficiency. It is all the more exciting because Graphene is an insanely amazing conductor of heat and electricity but uptill now it wasn't very good at absorbing light. A very big problem currently with a graphene based solar panel design is the fact that the edges of the graphene sheet are highly reactive, so harvesting the current would prove to be much more of a challenge. Similarly in its natural state, Graphene doesn’t really want to absorb sunlight, something they will have to figure out a way to solve. We know that Graphene is a very efficient photo voltaic material, the question is now how to make it react to light and harvest electricity without destroying its composition.

Nanotechnology has been hailed as the next big thing for decades, but it is only now that it is truly becoming a reality in the medical device space.

The term nanotechnology itself dates back to the 1980s, when it was coined by U.S. engineer Eric Drexler. In the past few decades, nanotech has found a steadily growing number of applications in everything from computing to textiles. It remains to be seen to what extent nanotechnology will reshape medicine, but nanotech advances are continually being announced.
